Properties that are not just for Christmas

23rd August 2017 | Val d'Isere

Searching solely for a skiing property limits its use to the winter months.  Selecting a property that is just outside of a resort in a traditional alpine village can greatly improve your value for money and provide the ideal year round holiday home with room for all your family and friends.

Summers in the Alps can continue to fulfill any requirements for adrenaline and downhill speed with incredible road biking or mountain bike trails accessed from the ski lifts which open in the summer to help get walkers and mountain bikes up the mountain, or simply give you the chance to enjoy the peace and escapism of the mountains on the well marked and infrequently travelled alpine trails with lazy afternoons relaxing by mountain streams and lakes.

Owning a property in a village rather than a large resort allows you to become part of a French community, to fully embrace the French way of village life and protects you from the hustle and bustle of the peak season in the resorts.  In the Tarentaise Valley the proximity of 5 resorts also allows you the privilege of choosing between the numerous resorts to get the best snow conditions or to avoid the crowds.

The properties that we have listed here are situated on a sunny south facing slope in the Tarentaise Valley, all with spectacular panoramic views. They have easy access to skiing on the pistes of La Rosiere, St Foy, Les Arcs, Tignes and Val D’Isere ensuring that there is a resort suited to all abilities and desires. The choice does not stop there as from these chalets it is also possible to drive or ski over to Italy to sample some Italian delicacies, indulge in a trip to the thermal spa in Pre St Didier and to experience the thrill of the Skyway Monte Bianco in Courmayeur Mont Blanc where in just 10 minutes, the cablecar can take you up to 3,466 m on Punta Helbronner from where there are stunning views of Mont Blanc.

La Rosiere links with the neighbouring Italian resort of La Thuile and it is rated as one of the sunniest and best family resorts in France. St Foy is similarly renowned for being family friendly and boasts cheap ski passes and some fabulous off piste. Tignes and Val D’Isere are for the hard core skier, providing 300 kms of ski runs, 1900m of vertical and summer skiing on the Grand Motte glacier. There is also easy access to Les Arcs from the funicular in Bourg St Maurice or the short drive to Villaroger providing access to the Paradiski Area which allows you to ski all the way over to La Plagne.

In the villages of the Tarentaise Valley you will find prices currently at less than a third of downtown Val D’Isère and with more sunshine and year round appeal these properties are highly appealing long term holiday home solutions
