New Airline PowdAir have stated that new routes to Sion Airport, serving Morzine and its neighboring ski areas will be operative from December 2017. This is exciting news for anyone thinking of buying a second home in the spectacular ski area of the Portes Du Soleil.
This dedicated snow sports airline will be serving Sion Airport and the Valais Region from December 17. Sion Airport is just 2 hours away from Morzine, and will be connecting eight British, European and Swiss airports as well as Rotterdam and Hamburg. The winter 17/18 flight timetable commences on Thursday 14th December 2017 and runs until 16th April 2018, and summer routes are already being planned.
They have also organised their routes and timetables with short breaks in mind and long weekends; no one said ski holidays have to be a week long, how about lots of trips throughout the season! PowdAir will be flying 5 days a week Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday with seats expected to cost between £99 and £150 one-way, including ski carriage.
You may think that Geneva airport is closer, at just under an hour and a half transfer. However, door to door Sion is faster, being in the heart of the Valais region, its infratructure smaller and more efficient with less time waiting around for luggage and faster boarding through customs.
The Portes du Soleil ski area comprises 12 linked Alpine resorts in France and Switzerland, 580 km of slopes, 170 lifts and one lift pass for all of it! Making it the perfect place to buy your perfect ski home. The region offers 300 days of sunshine, fresh mountain air, excellent hiking, fine home grown wines, canyoning, rafting, beautiful lakes, waterfall hikes, and its unbeatable ski slopes make it a top winter snow sports destination.
Morzine is the largest town in the area, with a thriving seasonal community, fantastic traditional Savoyard restaurants, and modern bars and clubs to match. The current chalet and apartment developments provided you with a variety of choices when choosing the perfect alpine home for your specification.
With the added attraction of having international flights landing in Sion, Morzine is now an even more attractive proposition, and with the new telecabine plans linking Morzine to Avoriaz, has plenty to offer property buyers.
